‘Commitment’ ready to ride
After displaying it on the deck for just over a year, the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation will present the custom-built chopper “Commitment” to its new owner on Monday, Sept. 6.
For a chance at sliding into the owner’s saddle, you have until 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, to buy a ticket — $20 each or three for $50.
The bike’s winner will be announced at the 3 p.m. Monday drawing on the viewing deck, part of the day’s honoring of warrior leader Crazy Horse and sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski on what would have been his 102nd birthday.
“Commitment” is the creation and gift of Eric Gorges, the founder and owner of Voodoo Choppers in Rochester, Michigan. Inspired during a 2008 visit to the Memorial, he crafted a bike like no other – melding mechanics and art into an aerodynamic metal masterpiece that honors the grit and determination of the Memorial’s founding sculptor.
This will be the sixth annual motorcycle raffle drawing fundraiser for the Memorial. The total proceeds are matched by the T. Denny Sanford Foundation in the ongoing challenge to help the progress on the mountain carving.
Bike raffle tickets are available at the Memorial or by calling 605-673-4681.
