Summer performance series enhances Thursdays
Native American dancers, singers, musicians and storytellers will present programs at Crazy Horse Memorial at 6 p.m. Thursday each week through Aug. 25.
The scheduled programs remaining for June include:
June 14 – Jerome Kills Small, Vermillion, SD; USD instructor, Lakota storyteller and singer
June 21 – Harry Burke, Hermosa, SD; educator and historian
June 28 – Daron White Eagle & Woyatan Drum, Rapid City, SD; Lakota singers & dancers
People wanting to see the programs can enter the Memorial for free by contributing money or three cans of food per person for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive. The benefit helps regional families served by the Feeding South Dakota food bank in Rapid City.
After the presentations, audience members may tour the Memorial’s museum and Native American Cultural Education Center complex and stay for the evening “Legends in Light” laser-light program shown on the mountain carving.
