Family artwork donated

Geraldine Sherman of Rapid City helped the late Anne Ziolkowski establish a fashion show during the Gift from Mother Earth celebration, a centerpiece of summer special events at Crazy Horse Memorial.
In late September, the noted seamstress and designer of contemporary Lakota fashions provided another gift to the Memorial – a painting by her daughter Colleen Cutschall. She is a retired professor of Brandon University in Manitoba who has exhibited works at the National Museum of the American Indian and designed the “Spirit Warriors” memorial at the Little Bighorn Battlefield.
The donated portrait of the artist’s paternal great-grandmother is based on a photograph of 18-year-old Lizzie Glode adorned in her finest beaded buckskin dress.
