Feed the hungry, see Crazy Horse for free
Crazy Horse Memorial visitors gave 44,561 pounds of food and $31,932.38 in 2012 to benefit people served by the Feeding South Dakota food bank and pantry.
In exchange for cash donations or 3 cans of food per person, the contributors gained free admission to Crazy Horse.
The KOTA Care & Share Food Drive program continues at Crazy Horse in 2013. Admission to the Memorial is free on all weekends and holidays now through Father’s Day, June 16.
Food donations also net free admission to the Memorial during such special events as Korczak Day on May 3; the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend open houses, May 25-27 and Aug. 31-Sept. 2; for hikers taking the volksmarches up the mountain on June 1-2 and Sept. 28-29; mountain night blasts on June 26 and Sept. 6; and to attend the weekly Thursday evening programs from June 6 to Aug. 29.
