Crazy Horse CEO wins Community Partner Award
The South Dakota Association for Lifelong Learning, the statewide nonprofit organization for adult educators, has presented its first “Community Partner Award” to Crazy Horse Memorial CEO Ruth Ziolkowski.
The group announced the honor during the July 9-11 Great Plains Commission on Adult Basic Education Regional Institute conference in Sioux Falls.
SDALL secretary Stephenie Rittberger of Custer said that Mrs. Ziolkowski for more than 14 years has proven repeatedly she is “a visionary friend who understands the importance of the work being done.” She said Mrs. Ziolkowski’s contributions of books, classroom materials, student scholarships and donations for fundraisers “to improve adult education in the Southern Hills and across the state has been unmatched.”
Dr. Laurie Becvar of Vermillion, the recently named president and chief operating officer of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, accepted the award on Mrs. Ziolkowski’s behalf.
