Rosebud Grade-Schoolers & Wisconsin College Students Visit Crazy Horse
On March 11th, the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation’s Education Department hosted a group of twenty-two fourth and fifth graders from Hedog Elementary School, along with an accompanying group of college students from Beloit College in Wisconsin. INDIAN UNIVERSITY OF NORTH AMERICA™ Director, Dr. Jason Murray, and Outreach Coordinator, Mr. Cleve Janis, shared Native American oral narratives about the origin and history of dream catchers, showcased various dream catchers within the Museum collection, and led students and staff members in making their very own dream catchers. The students and staff also took a bus trip to the base of Crazy Horse Mountain.
The Hedog students and Beloit College students worked together, learned about Native American culture, and left with their very own dream catchers that they themselves made – a remembrance of their visit to Crazy Horse Memorial and a reminder to never forget their dreams.
