Other Gifts for Your Consideration
Since its founding, Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation has depended on the generosity of friends for its support. The Foundation has received gifts of all types, each helping enable the progress made to date. Crazy Horse Memorial is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) foundation. Your contributions to our organization are tax deductible under IRS rules.
Here are some ways that you can support the dream envisioned by Chief Henry Standing Bear and sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski:
You can give appreciated securities to Crazy Horse Memorial and receive significant tax advantages.
Tangible Personal Property
You can give such gifts as artifacts, collectibles, books and works of art to Crazy Horse Memorial. Special tax rules apply to gifts of this type.
You can make a gift of residential or commercial real estate to Crazy Horse Memorial. Again, special tax rules apply to this type gift.
You can include a bequest to Crazy Horse Memorial in your will or living trust. You may leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your assets or a portion of your estate’s residue.
You can give Crazy Horse Memorial ownership of a paid up life insurance policy or name the Memorial as beneficiary of a policy that you currently have in force. There also are other more complex ways to give a life insurance gift.
You can name Crazy Horse Memorial as a beneficiary of most retirement plans in which you participate. This type of gift may be especially attractive for tax reasons for people with IRA’s, 401(k)’s and similar plans.
Charitable Gift Annuity
You can execute an agreement with Crazy Horse Memorial that will provide you with a lifetime income and significant tax advantages. These agreements can be for individuals or for couples.
Charitable Remainder Trust
You can create a trust to benefit Crazy Horse Memorial that will provide you, and if desired, other individuals with a lifetime income. When the trust terminates, the remaining value is distributed to the charity or charities named in the trust document. There are many other specialized trust forms available to donors.
Retained Life Estate
You can make a gift of your residence or farm to Crazy Horse Memorial and retain the right to live and use the property for your lifetime. You receive current tax advantages and continue to be responsible for all property maintenance, insurance and taxes.
Please request further information on any of these gift types. We strongly encourage that you consult your personal, legal, financial and/or tax advisers for advice on any of these gifts.
