Imagine having to prepare your office for over 9000 visitors. Last week, the Mountain Crew did just that! The 31st Annual Crazy Horse Spring Volksmarch, an organized hike from the Crazy Horse Visitor Center Parking lot to the Arm of Crazy Horse Mountain, took place this past weekend. Many attend the Volksmarch but may not think of the preparation that goes into converting an active carving site into the destination for thousands of hikers. In the days preceding a Crazy Horse Volksmarch the Mountain Crew clears areas that will be open to guests of tools and equipment, put up barriers and signage on restricted access areas, and even adjust the chain link fence to accommodate the large crowd. Then, during the two day special event, the Mountain Crew is available on Crazy Horse’s Arm to answer any questions and most importantly, to make sure everyone is being safe.
