Artist in Residence for May Article

May 02, 2021

Crazy Horse Memorial® is pleased to announce Rosebud Lakota artist Starr Chief Eagle as the Artist in Residence for the month of May. Starr will be researching cultural knowledge pertaining to clothing and regalia of the Plains Indigenous peoples while producing jewelry and ribbon shirts/skirts that will be for sale to the public. She will also be making her own dance regalia that will be worn during her many daily performances in the 2021 summer season.

Accompanying Starr’s studio time, weekly artist talks will be held at 12:30pm on Wednesdays. The talks will consist of hands-on jewelry making and hoop dance workshops, plans/progress of her own regalia, and a performance of her own hoop dance with a brief explanation.
